Our Story...How Artful Beads
Came To Be!
|
|
Artful Beads is a partnership that was formed
through friendships that developed after doing bead shows together for
years. Barbara and Laina owned The Beaded Giraffe which sold
beautiful Czech Glass Beads, jewelry making kits, and associated supplies.
Amy owned The Glass Moon which sold her handmade borosilicate glass beads
and finished jewelry. After spending countless weekends unpacking
and packing our fabulous collections of beads at shows, we all decided
we'd like to have a permanent place to share the joyful experience of
beads. After putting our heads together, Artful Beads became a
reality!!
We first opened our doors on March 4th,
2006 and have enjoyed every minute of it; growing as artists and sharing our
love for beads has been more fulfilling than we ever imagined possible!

Amy Haftkowycz
As many of you know by now, Amy is known for having three true obsessions
in life: cats, Bruce Springsteen, and - of course - beads! While cats and Bruce
will always rank at the top of the list, it is the amazing, ever-changing world
of beads that keeps her mind in non-stop motion. In addition to being a
self-taught (albeit semi-retired) lampworker and certified PMC artisan, Amy has
thoroughly enjoyed reaching out in many new directions since Artful Beads opened
in 2006. Developing class projects, learning countless techniques,
forging new friendships, and having two magazine articles published (Beadwork
April/May 2009 and Beadwork June/July 2009) have made the Artful Beads
experience truly one-of-a-kind...one that will hopefully continue for a long,
long time.
